Plumb Crazy by Molly Blaisdell

Plumb Crazy
Release Date: 06/10/14

Summary from Goodreads:
Small town country girl Elva Presley Hicks is about to attend her five-year class reunion with her best friends, Shay and Margarett.

The discovery of an old fanfic manuscript stirs up memories of her summer job as a plumber’s helper in Houston the summer before senior year. She earned a lot of money that year, but was lonely as heck.

It's not like there weren't any suitors back then. Elva could have chosen between Chase, the obese pig farmer, and Wyatt, the plumber with wandering hands. But Elva yearned for something more, and found it that fateful summer, with electrician, Mitch McCall.

It was magical. Mitch wasn't turned off by Elva's name or fan fiction writing, and Elva didn't lose interest in Mitch after he cut off his nose at work.

Trials and triumphs followed including a friendship implosion, world-wide fanfic humiliation, and goat salvation. It would go down as the most memorable summer of high school.

But as these things sometimes do, the summer romance fizzled and Elva moved on to life after high school. And while she's ready to reminisce, she is unnerved when she runs into Mitch at the reunion. Can they give it another go after so much time has passed, or are they too different now to even try?

Launch

What do you hope readers will take with them when they read this last book in the series?
To me, things really come full circle with the characters, their relationships, and the dilemma of facing their lot in life. I think they've learned a lot, they've definitely been through some trials, but it was nice to give them that sense of understanding and the chance to see how things truly are. They had to either accept it or fight to the end, but it was nice to give them the choice.

Letters from Annie (Douglass) Lima - Chapter One

Heat pulsed through the warehouse, liquid fire pushed by some unseen force. Metal screamed and block crumbled, tearing away every protection she had from the gale. But it was not the light of fire that accompanied the wind, not the brightness of a flame. It was dark beneath the haze of fog.

It was a shadow...

Kelly P's Blog - Chapter One Cont'd

“No,” she whispered. “I’m sorry for what’s about to happen.” She tilted her head, drawing it from beneath his chin to look again at the amber of his eyes, the glow that was within them before suddenly stronger than she’d ever seen it. “I’m sorry for what I’ve set into motion...”

BookSkater - Chapter Two

“I’m ready,” the dark-haired man said, hands fisted at his sides. He was a complete contradiction to his audience, but he didn’t care. He wanted her. He would take her himself. “Let me at her before she has the chance to get any stronger...”

My Life, Loves and Passion - Chapter Three

Aern’s weight shifted, unconsciously moving toward her. He’d known the battle with Morgan was not the end. He’d seen it in Brianna’s eyes, felt it in her apology. They’d set some new chain of events into motion, brought some new fate down on them all...

Prism Book Tours - Chapter Three Cont'd

And here was the more Aern had thought he’d seen in Brianna’s expression. Because she’d known, once she’d found the connections to free herself and Emily, that they were not in place from centuries ago. Those binds, the ones that had kept their powers hidden, were put in place after they’d been born. And the only thing strong enough to do so would have been another shadow...

Book n Blog - Chapter Three Cont'd

“The thing is,” Brianna said, shifting just enough that her admission was directed to both of them, “the thing that doesn’t make sense is that she permitted us to be bound, chose this path for us, brought us to you.” She hesitated, eyes falling first to Aern and then lingering a heartbeat too long on Logan. “Because the shadows are the reason,” she wet her lips, “the ones who took the power from the Seven Lines to begin with.”

Mythical Books - Chapter Three Cont'd

Aern stared at her, everything that he’d learned in his youth rolling through his mind. The Seven Lines had once been powerful, able to do much more than simply use sway. Something had happened, something they’d called a thinning of the blood, that had slowly weakened their powers until no more than this remained. He wanted to not believe her. He wanted to keep thinking the stories they’d been told were true...

Christy's Cozy Corners - Chapter Four

But that slim blonde was gone now, taken when these men had invaded Westlake and destroyed the right half of her body. All that was left of her was the warrior, the daughter of a council elder with the blood of Sky. She was strong. She’d downed seven of their men before they’d strapped her into a truck and drove away from the fire and destruction that was the Division headquarters...

Book-Marks the Spot - Chapter Four Cont'd

His head hung, but he looked at Ellin from beneath his brow, swollen and bruised, cut and bleeding. She could still see the unhealed scars from the day he’d released Morgan. The day he’d tried to save their prophet. He wouldn’t give her now, not any single bit of information that would help them. He would never turn on Brianna...

Simplistic Reviews - Chapter Four Cont'd

He crouched beside her, fingertips rolling over his thumbs, and cocked one brow. “You know the rules Miss Walker. If you want to stop me from hurting Mr. Samuels, you’ll need to give me an answer in return.”

She swallowed against the thickness in her throat, new blood working free of her wounds. Her chest ached, fear and panic and unadulterated adrenaline.

Still, she managed to say, “Please, call me Ellin.”

He laughed. A short, shallow huff of air that said she’d surprised him, but it couldn’t have been true humor...

Wishful Endings - Chapter 5

He sighed. “We can’t leave him to …” He broke off, frustrated at their lack of information, and said, “Whatever he’s doing, Brianna, it’s wrong. We have to find him. He held you captive. He was working with Morgan.” His list stopped as he realized they had the key...

Katie's Clean Book Collection - Chapter 5 Cont'd

Brianna stood as well. “That’s not why you can’t go after him.” She’d been thinking about this for days, since before she’d known about Brendan. Since she’d realized what she and Emily were. She didn’t know if it was right, if it was the plan her mother had laid in place, but she wouldn’t be able to live with doing anything different. She had to protect them...

Nocturnal Predators Reviews - Chapter 5 Cont'd

Her eyes were closed, but she could feel him watching her as his hands stilled. A thumb rolled slowly up the side of her neck and she breathed deep, relaxing into the feel of his fingers as they came higher to trail feather-light over her cheek, her temple, barely brushing her eyelid. Logan's breath came out in what might have been a whisper, and then she felt him move, lips touching hers so gently that she couldn’t resist reaching for him, to pull him closer where he leaned over her...

Mary Terrani.com - Chapter 6

Aern stood in front of Brianna, hands clasped with hers as she searched his connections. He could feel Emily behind him from her spot on the edge of the sofa. He didn’t need to look to imagine her, hands twisted as she watched her sister work to restore some long-gone power within him. The bond was changing, becoming stronger—more real every moment—and it was as if he could sense her distress. This wasn’t some experiment to work toward a vague prophecy. This was Brianna’s last-chance gamble to try and save them from a vision she knew was true, a fight that was coming to them. A war they couldn’t escape...

My Devotional Thoughts - Chapter 6 Cont'd

“We think she’s trying to tell us about Brendan,” Eric said from behind them, his voice quiet.

Aern watched as Ellin’s eye closed tighter. “No,” he said. “Brianna. She’s trying to warn us about Brianna.” A grateful breath escaped her and she opened her eye to close it again, in a long blink. A yes...

His thumb slid over her cheek. “Don’t worry, Ellin. We have her. She’s safe.” Her gaze moved to his, another warning, and he answered, “We know they’re coming for her, but she’s safe...”

The Written Adventure - Chapter 6 Cont'd

“And if they find us?” Eric said.

Aern glanced at the door that Ellin’s cart had disappeared behind, remembering her broken body. As if they had played with her, taken their time. Brianna’s face when she’d described Brendan, when she’d said the others were coming.

His gaze met Eric’s, tone even. “Pray...”

The Wonderings of One Person - Chapter 7

It was time. She was getting stronger, finding her own answers, and it was going to be too late. He couldn’t go to her, the shadows had warned him against that, but there would be no call for issue if Brianna found him. If she initiated the contact. Come to me, Brianna, he thought. Come to me and I will show you why your kind is hiding...

Dalene's Book Reviews - Chapter 8

Logan’s lips pursed. “Hot dogs are over rated.”

She shook her head, shifting so that her denim-covered leg touched his. “You’re cooking them wrong.”

He laughed, turning to see her. “How’s that?”

“You have to smother them in chili and that radioactive-yellow cheese sauce, and then you cover the whole thing with a bag of corn chips...”

Deal Sharing Aunt - Chapter 8 Cont'd
She smirked. “They’re going to be a bit like Morgan, I’m afraid. They’re very proud of their power.” Her eyes went unfocused as she studied the visions, a set of futures where the lesser shadows sought her out. She couldn’t see them, exactly, but she could glimpse the events, knew the way things would unfold. She was hunting in the darkness, searching for bits of light in fog. These shadows weren’t as quick and ruthless, not like the others, but she knew that was coming, too. “Not all of them,” she said. “The men behind this, they aren’t in it for the glory.” She shivered, finding the last of the visions, the scenes too hard to relive. “They only want the outcome...”

The Tesla Gate: Excerpt!

Tesla Gate Tour

Tesla GateThe Tesla Gate

When a cosmic storm enters Earth’s atmosphere, scientists are baffled by its composition and origins, but not nearly as much as they are by the storm’s side effect – anyone who has died and chosen not to cross over is suddenly stranded here, visible, and can interact with the living.

With the world thrown into chaos, Thomas Pendleton is eager to make up for many broken promises to his six-year-old son, Seth. Soon after the storm, they set out on a road trip to the National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC, completely unaware of the social and political maelstrom they’re heading into that will change their lives forever.

Here's an Excerpt!

Frozen, I listened and heard nothing. I was just about to move on to the TV when a faint noise met my ears. I listened curiously at first, but the longer I listened the faster my heart began to race. Was that someone crying? The more I listened, the more certain I became that a child was crying in Seth’s room. Could this have been one of his friends that had snuck into his room to privately mourn? I didn’t think so; Seth was only six after all and the nearest child his age lived about four blocks away; a far piece for a six year old to travel by himself. But still, I was positive about what I was hearing; it was definitely the undersized sobs of a child.

My tinge of curiosity was quickly replaced by a creepy feeling like 100 mice were running up and down my spine. My interest about what was going on outside had been brushed aside for a new single minded focus. Who or what was on the other side of the door?

I slowly crept toward the door, barely daring to breathe. A large vase beside the bathroom contained two large golf umbrellas. I grasped one by its protruding handle and slowly withdrew it from the vase, like a knight drawing his sword. I didn’t know what the heck I was going to do with an umbrella, unless the intruder was armed with a water pistol. I guess it just gave me some sort of security as I moved to open the door, however false it may be.

I placed my left palm against the wood surface and gently pushed as it slowly started to swing inward. I poked the tip of the umbrella into the widening crack, ready to repel any attack that came my way. The door gave one last tiny creak as it came to a stop. As I peered into the bedroom, the umbrella dropped from my hand and my heart leapt into my throat.

Dodging An Unwanted Kiss by Kimberly Krey
“Help! He’s moving in for a kiss & it’s the last thing I want.”

We all know what it’s like to go out on a date only to find the chemistry isn’t quite what we hoped for. But what if our date has a different view? What if, at the end of the evening, he leans in for a goodnight kiss? In Reese’s Cowboy Kiss, Reese, our Texan bombshell, has to deal with this very dilemma when Rowdy, one of the ranch hands, asks her out.  Sadly, she’s already fallen for the foreman of the ranch, Blake Emerson, so the guy doesn’t stand a chance. Here’s a quick excerpt on how she dealt with the dreaded ‘dis at the door’:

Reese sighed, barely catching the look that had settled over Rowdy’s face. Oh, no. She was familiar with that look. Had seen it on one too many porch steps.
“Thanks again for the fun evening,” she said. “That place had great pizza. And it’s been a long time since I’ve watched wrestling on TV.”
Rowdy didn’t reply. Only nodded silently as he moved closer. “I’m glad you came with me,” he said.
Reese looked down at her shoes. “Well, I’ll see ya–”
Her words were interrupted when Rowdy captured her chin in his hand, lifting it to where their eyes met. His gaze dropped to her lips as he moved in for a kiss. At once Reese turned to the side, offering her cheek instead.
Rowdy pulled back and tilted his head, a near-shocked expression on his face.
Reese gave him a coy smile and tapped her cheek.
“Oh,” he mumbled. “Goodnight then.” His large shoulders dropped a notch while he contemplated. At last he moved in, kissing her half-heartedly on the cheek.
“Goodnight, Rowdy. See ya’ll tomorrow.”

Excerpt From Reese’s Cowboy Kiss, by Kimberly Krey

Observations:
1. Reese tried to evade the entire incident by looking down at her shoes. This is a great way to let a guy know you’re not interested – avoiding eye contact. Had Rowdy known how to take the cue, he would’ve saved himself the embarrassment.

2. She turned her cheek. This might seem obvious, but some women are too timid to do this when a guy has done something so bold as to take hold of her chin. It’s a very assumptive move, so be sure to stay firm. If you don’t want to kiss him goodnight. Don’t. No matter how awkward the moment.

3. When Rowdy acts put off, Reese smiles and taps her cheek, assuring him she’d appreciate the gesture, even if it’s not the one he had in mind. It’s still an invitation, and better than a handshake by any measure.

4. She’s as friendly as she can be. Reese likes this guy after all, and knows she has to see him on a continual basis. Therefore she does her best to make light of the situation with her friendly “See ya’ll tomorrow,” comment. It’s not unusual to get asked out by a co-worker or a friend at school. So do your best to take the sting out of it. We don’t want to humiliate them.

Thanks for joining us for this episode of Tips from a Texan Bombshell. I wish you great success with the goodnight gestures in your future. May you avoid doorstep awkwardness with ease and finesse. Second On The Right GRAND FINALE

Second on the Right by Elizabeth Los
A themed book tour through Prism Book Tours.

It's the Grand Finale for

Second on the Right

by Elizabeth Los

Did you miss visiting Captain Hook's storybook world? There's still time to go check it out!

14  - Launch - More about Second on the Right and Elizabeth Los
What do you hope readers will take with them when they read your book?
I hope readers will be able to sit back and enjoy the ride. I love books that take me on a journey full of twists and turns. If a reader gleans a message from the story, great! But otherwise, I just want it to be fun. I hope they find themselves liking Hook as I always have.

15 - Kelly P's Blog - Interview
Who is your favorite character in your book and why?

James is my favorite character in Second on the Right and also the inspiration/reason why I wrote Second on the Right in the first place. I always felt there was more to Hook’s story than just what we find in Barrie’s version. What motivated him and pushed him to seek revenge on Peter Pan? Was it really just the loss of his right hand or was there more to it than that?

Coffee Books & Art - The Inspiration for Second on the Right
As for the title, Second on the Right, this is a nod to the original J.M. Barrie text. Most known the phrase as second star to the right, but in Barrie’s Peter Pan, it was actually "second to the right, and straight on till morning". I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to write about Captain Hook if Barrie hadn’t written the story in the first place. So I felt it was only fitting to give a nod, multiple times in the novel in fact, to him and the original work.

Dividing by Zero - The Legend of Captain Hook
Said to be the only man Long John Silver feared, even the name “James Hook” is an alias. No one knows the true identity of the captain or where he came from. The man known as Captain James Hook has a cadaverous appearance, his pale face appearing as a spectral in the dark...

Musings of Immortals - Character Description of Captain Hook

16 - Sarah's StoryLines - Excerpt
Eileen woke with a start. Carefully, she peeled back the privacy sheet. A lump caught in her throat. The cabin door was open. She frowned. In the dim moonlight, a shadow stood just within the captain’s quarters. It moved. Her heart raced. She blinked, then stared. The dark silhouette glided silently. She watched, unbelieving. The shape loomed over the captain. She released the sheet.

17 - Mary Terrani.com - Character Description for Eileen
Eileen

18 - The Wonderings Of One Person - The Mistral Thief
Captain Benedict’s ship is what is typically depicted of pirate vessels, a galleon ship...
How does it compare with Captain Hook’s Jolly Roger?

Christy's Cozy Corners - Captain Hook's Crew of the Jolly Roger
Captain James Hook had a rather unique and, for the most part, loyal crew. The crew of the Jolly Roger was a lot of villainous pirates. But though they were a rough bunch and at times fear their captain’s temper, they were like family to James. Two specific men stand out among the group: Smee and Starkey...

"I had a hard time keeping my self interested in what was going on. But I am very glad I did. About half way through the story becomes so much better. It moves along quicker and keeps your attention until the end."

22 - My Devotional Thoughts - Buried Treasure and A Treasure You Can Search For
In the 1600s, a galleon ship, Nuestra Senora de Atocha, was caught in a hurricane off the coast of Key West. Supposedly, this one held an enormous cargo of gold, silver and gems. The original captain’s manifest claimed coins of different values, emeralds, boxes of gold and silver bars.

23 - Bookworm Lisa - How to Make Your Own Treasure Map
1) Think about what you want on the map. Lucky for James Benedict, his photographic memory came in handy when it came time to recall the directions to the island called Neverland...

24 - The Written Adventure - Real Life Paratey Adventure (Geocaching)
Geocaching is defined as the recreational activity of hunting for and finding a hidden object by means of GPS coordinates posted on a website, i.e. modern day treasure hunting. Honestly, the definition doesn’t begin to describe the fun and excitement involved.

25 - Dalene's Book Reviews - Review
"I enjoyed reading this book, the author took on Peter Pan and does a good job with this rewrite of a classic story. The characters are well developed and written."

Beck's Valley Books - Interview
Is there anything you don't like about being an author?

Talking about myself ;) That’s not to say I don’t enjoy discussing Second on the Right and the characters in the story. I welcome any questions, comments or discussion involving my novel. But questions about myself? Ugh.

About Elizabeth Los

I began writing fan fiction short stories in 2010 as means of escape. Every night, after ten hours of work and once the children were finally tucked in bed, for the fifth time, I would sit at my laptop and let my imagination flow through my fingers. Typing over eighty words per minute, my stories quickly began to form from novellas into full length novels. I used writing as my therapy, my release for stress.

Reign of Shadows
(Descendants #3)
By Melissa Wright

Brianna can see her future, but it’s the past that haunts her. Plans laid in place centuries ago are threatening not only her and her sister, but all of the Seven Lines. As the shadows plot their way to old rule, the visions shift again. Her power has led to some hard choices—and the occasional stab wound—but this set of futures holds nothing but darkness.

Unable to bear the idea of losing the footing they've so recently gained, she turns the soldiers of the Seven. But with shadows hidden among the ranks, can she overcome the path they've set in place, or is she blindly following their lead?

Chapter Six Cont’d
Aern

Her eyes fluttered shut with the words. Aern couldn’t be certain whether she truly believed them or not, but Ellin had been trained. She would understand the others were keeping Brendan, using him for leverage. She would understand that in this world, their version of safe meant something different. It wasn’t a promise to remain unharmed, only the reprieve to shut your eyes. To recover until the next round.

The cart was rushed from the room; the preparations made that would allow them to repair her most serious injuries. To reset bones and stitch up wounds that would recover better given a head start. The crowd of soldiers stood silent, watching as the door swung shut behind someone who’d been central to their council lives, and later, at the Division.

“They’re coming for her?” Eric said, breaking the stillness of the room.

Aern closed his hand, the warmth of it only serving to remind him of how cold Ellin’s skin had been. He turned to Eric, who stood waiting in front what was left of his team. “We have time. Brianna will give us warning.” He hoped the words were true, but if not, if they didn’t have time to prepare, it wouldn’t matter.

Eric gave a small nod, forced to accept there was more that Aern wasn’t willing to discuss, and drew a map from his pocket to start his report. “We found her here,” he said, pointing to a derelict industrial area. “Another warehouse. This one wasn’t even on council’s records. We just got close and …” he stopped, wetting his lips, and glanced up at Aern. “It just seemed right.”

“You were pushed?” Aern said.

Eric shook his head, uncertain as he brought back the memory. “I’m not sure. I wasn’t …” he gestured toward his men, “none of us really know how it happened.” He indicated another spot on the map. “We were heading to the Jamestown buildings to see if we’d missed anything there. And then Cooper took a side street, and this place looked suspicious. There were new locks on the gate, but they were open, high-dollar security equipment and no one had bothered using it. We dropped the team, and suddenly we were heading through doors, following new tracks and evidence of water, a fire that had been extinguished. But it wasn’t right, Aern. There wasn’t smoke damage, no sign of anyone around. Something was off. Wrong.”

Wrong. Brianna’s words echoed through Aern’s mind, and he pat Eric on the shoulder. “Send Seth, the other teams to check out the area surrounding it. But don’t engage.” He looked again at the map in Eric’s hand. “Whatever this is, I don’t want anyone getting too close. Not until Brianna gives us the go ahead.”

“Pray.”
