When I listen to music such as film scores, orchestra, solo piano, or awesome composers such as Lindsey Stirling and Two Steps From Hell, my creative juices for my novels gets flowing.
Of course, music is not my only source for gaining ideas and formulating plots, but it is a major part. The melodies and the powerful stories that each chord sings connect with the trials my characters are sent through. Unintentionally, I create a soundtrack for the novels that I write.
What's so great about this music is that there are no lyrics to distract me. I can clearly think through the current situation my characters are in and guide them to the light at the end of the tunnel. Plus, listening to this exciting music gets me pumped to write certain scenes (and to go faster on my daily runs).
Music is a powerful motivator in many things. It can make people cry, laugh, or even angry. For me, music invites me to write, to discover what will happen next and how to fix it.
A suggestion for you: If you are in need of help on a battle scene, listen to some Two Steps From Hell. I can guarantee that their orchestra based songs will plant the seed and nourish it to the perfect idea you've been waiting for. For my books, there are certainty some of their songs contained in my fighting sections.
I know this is a short post, but it's all I've got time for today! I'll do my best to keep up better.
Until next time.
I am still blown away that you can listen and read and write all at the same time! Your mind amazes me! I wish I had half of the creativity that you have! I would love to be a fly on the wall of your mind! I love to hear about things that inspire you!
